In October of 2005 Albertsons Corporate Strategic Procurement and Store Maintenance decided to enter into a maintenance service agreement with Solus Industries for all of the Albertsons self-maintained properties. Solus Industries is an organization who has built a large contingent of vendors around the country thus having a deep pool of local contractors available to me without me having to try and figure out who is good and who isn't. Solus Industries provides me with all the needed insurance coverage’s and guarantees for their work as well as billing as one vendor instead of 20, 30 or more individual vendors. The value they add for me is that I have nearly 150 branches to maintain, and I don't have the time and resources to try to determine which contractors in a market I need to use. The contractors in the yellow pages or the Internet may not be reputable, may not have the needed insurance we require. Solus Industries gives us "one-stop shopping" so that when I get a phone call from a branch manager in Florida while I'm visiting the branch in Louisiana, I can still make one phone call and get someone there today or tomorrow with all the requirements already approved.

I want to extend my appreciation for your part in completing the capital project on our plant facilities. Our company was presented with 3 qualified contractors, one of which was selected. You coordinated their visit to our facilities during the bidding process and made sure that they responded promptly.
As you were aware, I had other vendors bid on the job prior to your involvement. After receiving the self-procured bids, I compared the company backgrounds, references, bid prices and scope of work to the bids from your contractors. Although price was a major issue, my biggest concern was closure. I wanted the job done right and as soon as possible. All of the presented contractors met these requirements. I didn’t get the same “warm fuzzy feelings” from the self-procured contractors.
